Each Rival Sons bronze belt buckle offered here on The Raven Works website was made by hand by the artist using the lost wax process. This means that every buckle is different from the next. These buckles were not punched out by a machine but were made by the hands of man. No two are the same. Each buckle is unique and has it’s own character, has its own small, perfect-flaws, and has it’s own personality. Each will wear, patina, and polish beautifully over time, taking on it’s own unique look and feel, dependent upon on the physical environments and the unique lifestyle of the it’s owner. Josh casts each one himself at two thousand three hundred degrees (2300 degrees Fahrenheit). This means that he melts large ingots (similar to gold bars but made instead of bronze), inside a crucible, using a huge, gas powered floor furnace. Josh wears a heat-reflective fire-suit in order to protect him from melting his clothing and catching fire while he works, pouring the molten, liquid bronze. According to Josh, and based upon his life-long fascination with, and his multifaceted education in various aspects of metallurgy, the technical term for this particularly important working-range is… “ Damn Hot.”
